Commissions

A portrait with a personal connection

A detailed graphite portrait of a woman looking directly at the viewer, with dark fabric framing her face.

A commissioned portrait is an opportunity to create something personal: a work that reflects not only how someone looks, but something of who they are.

My practice centres on the human figure, exploring presence, expression and the subtle space between what we show and what we keep to ourselves. Working in oil painting and drawing, I approach each portrait as an individual exploration rather than a formula to be repeated.

If you are considering a portrait commission, I invite you to get in touch. We can discuss the person or subject you have in mind, the scale and medium, and what you hope the finished work might convey.

You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. A conversation is a good place to begin.

Memories of Erin

This commissioned portrait brings together careful observation and a sensitivity to character. Beyond physical likeness, the work seeks to capture the individuality that makes a person recognisable.

From the family

“I asked Gord to create a portrait of my daughter as a special keepsake for our family, and I couldn't be happier with the result. From start to finish, he was an absolute pleasure to work with—kind, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in creating something meaningful.

The likeness of Erin was incredible. Gord captured not only her appearance but also her spirit, and the attention to every little detail was truly remarkable. His talent and artistic eye are outstanding, and the finished piece is something our family will treasure forever.”
